This site is dedicated to the memory of Eugene Garfield, a pioneer in the area of scientific communication and founder of scientometrics. He made science the exchange of information, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and contributing to abolish barriers to the flow and exchange of data and ideas.
Although controversial, with sometimes undesirable side effects, such as rejection of outside the paradigm observations and hypotheses, his invention of the impact factor contributed to a better scrutiny and selection of the printed material, encouraging refusal of unwarranted claims and insufficient data that may pollute knowledge.
He was supportive of this site, which offers a forum for contentious ideas, and a dear friend of its Founder.
